What does TOEFL stand for and how does it play a role in studying worldwide?
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is given to test the English skills of people who do not speak it as their mother tongue. The number of universities across the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany and similar countries that recognize it is more than 13,000. People applying for international programs usually need to submit a TOEFL score to show their ability to understand school lectures, take part in class discussions and write for education.
What differences have been made in the new TOEFL exam pattern for this year?
From 2025, the TOEFL iBT will only take a little over 2 hours to complete. Only a few items are in the Reading and Listening sections and the Speaking section consists of 4 tasks. By using this new structure, students are less likely to feel tired and the level of assessment for all four core areas: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing is kept high.
How much time should I allow for preparing for the TOEFL?
If you want to do well, you should start preparing about 8 to 12 weeks ahead of your test. There is enough time to know the format, build your capabilities, attempt practice test papers and improve your weak points. This process starts early, so you will have extra time if you need to retake the test for university.
Can I do the TOEFL test at my house?
The test is available for home use using a special AI-supervised platform. It is very useful when you are far from a test center or would like a test setting you can count on. The home version is constructed and scored in a similar way to the in-person test and it is recognized by almost every university.

When will TOEFL scores be given and how can I get them to the universities?
Usually, you will get your TOEFL scores within a time span of 4 to 8 days after the test. When signing up, you have the option to send your scores for free to up to four universities. You can pay a small fee and have additional score reports sent to you from your ETS account much later.
What strategies should be used to prepare for the Speaking and Writing parts of TOEFL?
Working on simple exercises and getting feedback will help a lot. You can have speaking practice with experienced tutors in real time and check the feedback they give on your writing. Part of your training should involve organizing your points, building your vocabulary, practicing grammar and timing yourself, as this will help you do well on these parts.
Does the TOEFL work in all places or should I check whether IELTS would be suitable?
